Copil\u0103ria \u0219i anii form\u0103rii vor fi evoca\u021bi \u00een volumul memorialistic <em>Scriitor \u00een comunism (ni\u0219te amintiri)<\/em> ap\u0103rut \u00een 2011, \u00een care pot fi g\u0103site, printre alte mali\u021bii retrospective, \u0219i evoc\u0103ri neconven\u021bionale dedicate lui Nichita St\u0103nescu, Marin Preda sau Radu Tudoran. Potrivit lui \u201eAgop\u201d (cum \u00eei spun prietenii), prozatorii no\u0219tri nu mai pot scrie bine, dup\u0103 60 de ani, dec\u00e2t memorii. Adev\u0103rul e c\u0103 opera de fic\u021bionar a lui Agopian s-a \u00eencheiat \u00eenainte de 1989, microromanul poematic <em>Fric<\/em> (2003) \u0219i povestirile adiacente fiind mai degrab\u0103 o addenda \u00een care cocheteaz\u0103, derutant, (\u0219i) cu trend-uri stilistice mai noi. Exmatriculat ca \u201eabsenteist\u201d de la Facultatea de Chimie Industrial\u0103 (c\u0103reia \u00eei va prefera alchimia literaturii), scriitorul nu se las\u0103 u\u0219or arondat unei genera\u021bii de crea\u021bie. Primele texte \u2013 c\u00e2teva poeme \u2013 \u00eei apar, ca \u0219i cele ale membrilor \u201egrupului oniric\u201d, \u00een suplimentul <em>Povestea vorbei<\/em> al revistei craiovene <em>Ramuri<\/em>, condus de Miron Radu Paraschivescu. Prin diligen\u021bele prietenului Valeriu Pantazi \u0219i ale directorului Editurii Eminescu, Mircea Ciobanu, debuteaz\u0103 \u00eent\u00e2rziat \u00een 1979 cu romanul <em>Ziua m\u00e2niei<\/em> (singurul s\u0103u volum plasat \u00een secolul XX \u2013 e adev\u0103rat, h\u0103\u00ee! \u00een preajma Primului Mondial), celelalte romane fiind publicate \u00een anii 80. Un fals optzecist, a\u0219adar, \u0219i un (meta)romancier istoric, care-\u0219i plaseaz\u0103 nara\u021biunile antieroice de atmosfer\u0103 pe fundalul secolelor 18 \u0219i 19, \u00eentre domniile fanariote muntene, cu Bucure\u0219tii ciumei \u0219i ai zaverei, \u0219i lumea burgurilor austro-ungare (care atinge, sporadic, \u0219i Oltenia ocupat\u0103 vremelnic de austrieci). Inclasabilul <em>Manualul \u00eent\u00eempl\u0103rilor<\/em>, morbidul <em>Tache de catifea<\/em> \u0219i dipticul halucinatoriu <em>Sara-Tobit<\/em> alc\u0103tuiesc, \u00eempreun\u0103, o lume fabuloas\u0103, inconfundabil\u0103, \u00een care modele occidentale sunt trase pe dreapta de ironia dezabuzat\u0103 a unui oriental subversiv, voluptuos \u0219i iluzionist, pentru care nimic (\u00een afara contempla\u021biei \u0219i a pl\u0103cerilor trupului) nu conteaz\u0103 cu adev\u0103rat, iar am\u00e2narea e virtutea suprem\u0103. Ap\u0103rute \u00een anii 90, povestirile care compun volumul <em>\u00censemn\u0103ri din Sodoma<\/em> continu\u0103, \u00een cheie marquezian\u0103, lumea apocaliptic\u0103 din <em>Ziua m\u00eeniei<\/em>, iar <em>Republica pe e\u0219afod<\/em> dramatizeaz\u0103, \u00een cheie revolu\u021bionar\u0103 \u0219i pe diferite calapoade istorice, scenariile fantaste din <em>Manualul \u00eent\u00eempl\u0103rilor<\/em>.
