Al doilea poet ardelean interbelic important dup\u0103 Lucian Blaga, promotor al unui expresionism social \u0219i na\u021bional col\u021buros, vehement, de mare intensitate vizionar\u0103 \u0219i mesianic\u0103, din care se vor alimenta abundent \u0219i poe\u021bi comuni\u0219ti de peste mun\u021bi (Mihai Beniuc, Ion Th. Ilea), a redimensionat na\u021bionalismul mesianic al lui Goga. Absolvent al Facult\u0103\u021bii de Litere din Viena, trimis pe frontul italian \u00een armata austroungar\u0103, dezerteaz\u0103 \u00een favoarea armatei rom\u00e2ne, intr\u0103 apoi \u00een Legiunea Rom\u00e2n\u0103 \u0219i va fi menit, dup\u0103 r\u0103zboi, unei intense activit\u0103\u021bi diplomatice \u0219i publicistice na\u021bionaliste, alunecate, \u00een anii 30 c\u0103tre fascism \u0219i legionarism. Angajat al Ministerului de Externe, trimis mai \u00eent\u00e2i la Lega\u021bia Rom\u00e2niei din Roma, apoi la Milano (\u00een 1929, sub Mussolini) \u0219i Var\u0219ovia (\u00een 1933, sub Pilsudski), ajung\u00e2nd \u00een cele din urm\u0103 (dup\u0103 1939) la Lega\u021biile din Madrid \u0219i Lisabona (sub guvern\u0103rile lui Franco, respectiv Salazar), ceea ce-l ajuta s\u0103 nu mai revin\u0103 \u00een \u021bar\u0103, dup\u0103 r\u0103zboi, c\u00e2nd ajunge pe lista neagr\u0103 ca \u00eenalt func\u021bionar \u0219i propagandist al regimurilor pro-fasciste \u0219i pro-naziste. Sumbrele poeme apocaliptice ale frontului habsburgic din <em>S\u0103rb\u0103toarea mor\u021bii<\/em> 1914-1915, cu care debuteaz\u0103 editorial \u00een 1915, urmate de nu mai pu\u021bin expresionistele plachete lirice Rom\u00e2nia \u0219i Neguri albe (1920), sunt simptomatice pentru mentalitatea traumatic\u0103 a epocii \u00een care htonicul, umanitarismul activist, prometeic \u0219i profetismul vitalist fac legea. Tot mai puternic influen\u021bate de Whitman, volumele <em>M\u00e2ine <\/em>(1928), <em>Printre oameni \u00een mers<\/em> (1933) \u0219i <em>Minerii <\/em>(1937) marcheaz\u0103 un v\u00e2rf al activit\u0103\u021bii sale poetice din \u021bar\u0103, transform\u00e2ndu-l \u00eentr-un model al poeziei sociale autohtone (exist\u0103 \u00eens\u0103 \u0219i accente intime, biografice, care contrabalanseaz\u0103 violen\u021ba bolov\u0103nos (\u0219i \u201ev\u00e2njos\u201d) rural\u0103 a impreca\u021biilor revoltate din P\u0103tru Opinc\u0103 \u0219.cl.). Activitatea frenetic\u0103 \u00een presa militarist\u0103 \u0219i, generic, de extrem\u0103 dreapt\u0103 va fi reformulat\u0103 de pe coordonatele exilului na\u021bionalist, dup\u0103 1944.\u00a0 \u00cen exilul spaniol devine pre\u0219edinte al Cercului Rom\u00e2n pentru Uniunea Latin\u0103, editor al revistei <em>Carpa\u021bii<\/em> \u0219i autor a mai multe volume retrospectiv-vaticinare (<em>Drumuri prin furtun\u0103, Pomas de Monserrat, Rapsodia iberic\u0103<\/em> \u0219.a.)
